Meet Marsha with Restore DIY

My name is Marsha and I have loved painting or refinishing furniture since I was 16.  Then life happens, children come along and hobbies got put on the back burner. This blog is about reigniting the passion to create and remodel all the while finding the me that I lost along the way.

As I was learning to do new things like learning to upholstery, I began to find confidence in myself again. Confidence that I had lost along the way. Because I am gaining confidence every day, I hope to encourage you to learn new things and see that you are capable of doing more than you think you are.

Next I would like for you to know that I am very lucky. To clarify, I am lucky because I have the BEST husband. Not only does he encourage me to do things I am interested in (such as upholstery) he is always there to act as quality control. Oh, did I mention that he is a perfectionist. 😀 Couch with all fabric and foam removed

I love restoring furniture to use in my home. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment and items that I love!

Our 1990’s kitchen really needed an update. We chose a bold color for the cabinets and poured a concrete countertop and built an island. Not everyone will like our color choice, but it suits us at this time. Who knows what we will decide in a few years.

While good furniture will last a lifetime if well cared for, it can become dated. Or you can become bored with your current home design and want a fresher look. But furniture and walls can be updated with paint, wallpaper (which I can’t do, so no tutorial on that), or just refreshing whatever is already there with new hardware.  These updates are cheaper than purchasing new furniture which can make your pocketbook happy.

Sorry if you were expecting a nice photo of me, but this is me. This is how I look when I am working on my projects. A sweatshirt that is my working sweatshirt. That sweatshirt is 33 years old.  It has been a good one.
