How to have Beautiful Glass Cabinet Doors

Do you love the look of a cabinet with glass cabinet doors? Are you like me and have enough clutter inside the cabinet that it looks almost like a hoarder situation. If so, you certainly shouldn’t use glass doors.

The problem of Glass Cabinet Doors

I found a cabinet that would work perfectly in my craft room between two chairs but it had glass cabinet doors. Of course I was convinced that this time would be different and I would somehow arrange things so only beauty would be seen through the doors. That lasted about a month. As you can see, there is nothing pretty about the inside of this cabinet.

My Wrong Choice

I decided I would put a window film over the glass and keep the items from being visible but still have the look of a glass front. I ordered a film from amazon that advertised it was privacy frosted film. It was not.

The next time I ordered I used the search work “opaque” and found a film that looked much more promising. Once it arrived, I removed the first film and went to work.

The next step was to clean the window to remove any dust or anything that would keep it from clinging. Then I cut the film to size for each window. I followed the instructions and misted water onto the window then applied the cling. You will want to read the product instructions in case it is a different application process.

At this point you will want to remove all the air bubbles from the cling by starting in one corner rubbing toward the opposite end and outward. You may need a rigid device like a credit card, but be careful not to rub too hard or you will “pull” the cling leaving a mark. You can also tear the film if you rub too hard.

Eureka! This film was just the look I wanted and even better news, you couldn’t see through the film. Yay! I could hide the excess items I needed to store. This is the only way I can possibly have beautiful glass cabinet doors.
